How to get a showroom shine in under 45 minutes — without scratching your clear coat

BEFORE YOU START (5 minutes)

• ✅ Park in shade — never detail in direct sunlight (causes water spots and product streaking)
• ✅ Let the car cool down completely
• ✅ Gather everything before you start — two buckets, microfibre cloths, your products

STEP 1 — PRE-RINSE (3 minutes)

Rinse the entire car top to bottom with water to remove loose dirt before touching it. Never wipe a dry car — this is how you get swirl marks and scratches in your clear coat.

STEP 2 — WHEELS FIRST (7 minutes)

• Clean wheels before the body — they're the dirtiest part
• Use a dedicated wheel brush — never use the same cloth on wheels and paintwork
• Spray wheel cleaner, agitate with brush, rinse thoroughly
• Dry with a dedicated wheel cloth

STEP 3 — TWO-BUCKET WASH (15 minutes)

• Bucket 1: Car shampoo + water (wash solution)
• Bucket 2: Clean water only (rinse your mitt here before reloading shampoo)
• Wash top to bottom, panel by panel
• Never use circular motions — straight lines only to avoid swirl marks
• Rinse mitt in Bucket 2 after every panel

STEP 4 — RINSE & DRY (5 minutes)

• Rinse top to bottom thoroughly
• Dry immediately with a large premium microfibre drying towel — never let it air dry (water spots)
• Use straight patting/dragging motions — no circular scrubbing

STEP 5 — GLASS CLEAN (5 minutes)

• Use a dedicated glass cleaner — not an all-purpose cleaner
• Two microfibre cloths — one to apply, one to buff
• Do windows last so overspray doesn't contaminate your clean paintwork

STEP 6 — INTERIOR QUICK DETAIL (5 minutes)

• Vacuum seats and footwells first
• Wipe dashboard and door panels with a damp microfibre — no harsh chemicals on soft plastics
• Clean your screen with a dry microfibre only
